Hi Anthony,
As I'm still learning about mp3s and have never visited the iTunes site,
podcasting is an even bigger mystery to me so please forgive me if I'm saying
something obviously wrong here... but if a file reference in an email or webpage
has the correct extension, does this not automatically open the required app in
the users computer? You know, like when you click on a link that is a pdf and
preview opens, click on one with .doc and NeoOffice/J opens etc.
Unfortunately, I have no clue what file extensions iTunes uses or responds to,
but I am guessing the procedure is the same, and is controlled by the browser?

When Podcasts first appeared, I immediately thought how wonderful it
would be to publish our User Group meetings in audio form for our
homebound members! Then I discovered Video Podcasts! That cinched it.
I had to try.
I went out and purchased my first DV camera. I know... I should have
done this years ago, but I just didn't have a good enough reason.
Then I had to figure out just how to get the club's meeting from the
camera, into iTunes. Fortunately, Apple has published a very simple
guide to the process at <http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/
videopodcasts.html>. With that, I was able to place the movie into my
iDisk and with the help of FeedBurner <http://www.feedburner.com/>
get it online quickly!
I know it's a little rough. I promise it'll get better with practice.
You're welcome check out our meetings through iTunes! Just do a
search for "VMUG" or "LVMUG" in the iTunes Music Store! So far, I
haven't seen any other User Groups doing this... I hope I've started
something though.
BTW: Does anyone know how to place an iTunes Podcast link into an
email so that it will automatically open iTunes and locate or
subscribe when clicked?
Thanks,
Anthony D. Saxton
