Title: Re: Other Ways to Help Katrina Victims
We still haven’t heard from one of our friends, Andy Levin, in New Orleans. The area where he lived was severely flooded. Someone called his ex, left a message just saying, “Your loved one is still in New Orleans but is ok.” she doesn’t know who it was - They didn’t leave a number or name. Andy is from NYC, moved to NOLA about 18 mo ago. His video, Aftermath, was aired on many PBS stations. http://www.digitalrailroad.net/andylevin If any one comes across anything or a photo with ©ALevin on it, I’d appreciate knowing about it and will let his other friends and family know.
I spent most of the day crying in relief yesterday after hearing the voice of my best friend and finding out that his family are okay — his entire office was Mac’s, all his life work was on his Mac’s. His son did take his iPod but left his PowerBook at school in Bay St. Louis.
As I always say, physically I may be here, but my heart and soul reside in New Orleans.

Disaster FAQs --- Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?
http://www.redcross.org/faq/0,1096,0_682_4524,00.html#4524
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I received this from Rueben Williams (Tab Benoit's manager http://www.tabbenoit.com/sos.htm ):
Just one of the many alternatives charities to the ARC. I will give the Red Cross my blood and my time for sure but not my money..they have a ridiculous overhead and the support of corporate America and the Govt... (side note: This is why I don't think they need MY money and look for smaller, more specific local organizations to donate to, that will use 100% of my money for the cause)
I know this is a crazy time. I hope that everyone displaced in the sound of this email has found a place of residency and are safe.
I am notifying you to let you know that I have found Big Chief Monk Boudreaux (Joseph Boudreaux) and he is with his daughter and maybe more right now.
They are at a shelter but are in desperate need.
If you hear of anyone wanting to donate money and make sure that 100% of that money gets to a victims of Hurricane Katrina and changes lives, the Voice of the Wetlands Organization has geared up and is working out of a special non-profit account.
During the first week of January, 2005, a group of Louisiana musicians came together as one voice, the Voice of The Wetlands All-Stars, to use their talents to raise awareness of the destruction of South Louisiana's wetlands.
Nearly eight months later, as their record was being pressed, Hurricane Katrina demonstrated, in the most violent way imaginable, just one of the reasons why it is vital to stop, and reverse, the destruction of South Louisiana's wetlands. You can support the efforts of the Voice of Wetlands All-Stars by purchasing this record and by visiting http://www.voiceofthewetlands.com
The CD – features Tab Benoit, Dr. John, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, George Porter Jr., Johnny Vidacovich, Waylon Thibodeaux, and Jumpin Johnny Sansone .
