Actually, that message had been composed in Rich Text and was
conveyed in a manner that included HTML and Plain Text:
Content-type: multipart/alternative; boundary=Apple-Mail-1-765488154
--Apple-Mail-1-765488154
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset=US-ASCII;
delsp=yes;
format=flowed
--Apple-Mail-1-765488154
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
Content-Type: text/html;
charset=ISO-8859-1
Your response was conveyed to me as Plain Text:
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed
and that is also how I have Mail set to compose this one.
No, I had not been aware that Mail was in its default of Rich Text. I
have corrected that. My previous message conveyed the same ideas to
you that a Plain Text message would have, and the HTML portion took
twice as much bandwidth to do it as the text portion. They all look
the same to me on my screen and this whole discussion has gotten very
tedious. The bottom line is that different people have different
preferences. Someone other than both of us is going to decide what
the end result is and both of us have the option of living with it or
unsubscribing from AUGB and giving up the information transmitted.

Well Paul, I don't know if you are aware of this, but your own
message posted on this list has been sent in HTML format. The same
for Greg Maxwell's email and others. Both emails look better on my
screen, and they are easier to read than the usual plain text
messages.
