Interesting list you found, but where is Pages from iWork? And text editors such
as Text Wrangler? Have I or the list missed the point?
I find Pages fairly useful and for the most part a delight to work with, apart
from its limiting "over-integration" with iLife - it can mailmerge with names
and addresses from the Apple Address Book from iLife, but what about linking
with the more useful professional databases held on a server, for instance? I
like using Pages (after a shaky start which put me off using it until I had to
write our newsletter where it came into its own) but for serious use it needs to
fulfill the real needs of businesses, otherwise it should be renamed iPlay.

Then that is shame, as Pages isn't anywhere near as easy or
intuitive of a word processor as AppleWorks is.
That's pretty much the opinion of our local Mac user group (over 85
members).
While my personal opinion is I prefer Word (well actually the full
Office package) over AppleWorks.
With the demise of AppleWorks, and many folks' discomfort with Word,
folks have been having a hard time deciding which Word processor to use
on their Macintosh.
To help with this, there is a new discussion list on the topic of word
processing that started up just a few weeks ago:
