Hi all,
For the last 6 months Australian Teachers using Macintosh's have been
abandoned by Apple Australia. The Department of Education & Training
Australia wide has been mounting a vicious campaign to remove Macs from
Australian schools.
I was originally approached by some of these teachers seeking support and I
approached Apple looking for answers only to be fobbed of with a pat answer
that Apple doesn't comment on ongoing issues. This is the same answer Apple
has been giving Australian teachers for the last 6 months and it isn't good
enough.
This is why I am posting to the list.
If Apple Australia isn't prepared to help these teachers does anyone know
somebody high enough up in Apple in the US who I can contact to help give
Apple Australia a kick up the butt and force them to get on and do their
job? Otherwise has anyone got any suggestions for media organizations that
this story can be passed onto for widespread publicity?
For years the share of Macs in education has grown constantly but all of
those years of hard work will be lost if action isn't taken quickly.
I've put up an article describing the problem in detail on the front page of
our Mugs site (it was too long to post here). For those interested in
supporting the right for Australian teachers to use Macintosh computers
please read about what our teachers are facing from a bunch of zealots in
the DET determined to wipe Macs out and replace them with Windows machines.
