You say you have 7 GB of drive space left but you don't say the size
of the drive or why the sudden concern meaning what did you expect to
have free? If you have unaccounted missing drive space, download a
program like whatsize from versiontracker.com and it will show you
visible and invisible files and folders.
You may see a huge log file, up to 32 gigs that is often caused by OS
problems and they bloat up from a few megs without warning. It can be
deleted once you make it visible.
