I have recently begun working with individuals in our area (not just
from our group) conducting a business training and consulting
computer users at their homes. I am trying to be VERY careful as to
where to draw the line within our users group.
The Users group, IMHO, is designed to offer free help and advice to
individuals at our meetings and through our email list. I encourage
everyone possible to utilize these resources, as these are the types
of resources that are the foundations of the users group itself.
People helping people. I would also NEVER openly solicit my services
at a Users group meeting or even through our email list.
I still offer all my free advice through our email list, and group
meetings, and even phone consultation. I have only been charging for
house calls.
The question is; do you have businesses that attend your meeting, and
if so, have you set up rules, or guidelines for how those businesses
can conduct, or solicit business?
I am very curious to find out, as I would rather not cross the
ethical lines in my own group.
Thanks
John
