It was that MacNN article that made me think that finally HD was becoming
interesting. I've always bought 3CCD video cameras for the colour quality, and
wondered about the single CMOS chip HD output. Was it used because the higher
definition meant they could get away with a lower quality processor?
The prices of these new Panasonics is pretty affordable, and as someone else
said there will be even more about by March. Maybe iLife 07 will have AVCHD
support built in... and maybe that second CD slot on a MacPro has been designed
to be filled with one of the new Blu-Ray DVDs to cope with AVCHD file sizes?
We've had HD TV here in Switzerland for over a year, and I believe in Japan for
many years, so I'm rather keen to get hold of some kit so I can make some
myself, and I know some of our members are into video too so I think it will
work well as a meeting - provided Apple steps up to the plate in time!

This article, dated December 7, 2006, as well as its reader's
comments might give more food for thought.
