At our user group meeting we me at our former parish school. Even though the school is inactive we were fortunate to keep part of the computer lab running. [16-iMacs and 1-G3 B&W, 1-G3 Beige rev3 and a Sawtooth that is used as a server]. Since there are various meetings happening on the day of our meeting the Church will send the media notice that various organizations are canceled. We tell our members to listen during snowy weather and if any Holy Rosary functions are cancelled we are cancelled. Also use common sence. We also have various SIG meetings durin the month(Digita Photog. Beginners, Genealogy, etc) and these are rsvp to the various sig coordinators by e-mail. Any e-mail cancellations are sent to our own list server and directly to sig participants.

Although our User Group has never had a complete No Show, we have had
meetings that were light in attendance. Outside of in-climate weather
(we have had a few major Snow Storms on meeting nights), the main
thing is giving members a good reason to come and letting them know
about it.
As others have mentioned, your website could do more to attract
curious Mac Users (and existing members) about what you will be doing
at a particular meeting. Mainly announce what you are doing (and
remind by e-mail list prior to the event).
Sometimes we combine Topics. If one topic may be "too far over the
Top" for some members, we combine it with something that may appeal to
others.
