If you just double-click the file it will decode and be placed in a folder on the desktop - regardless of whether you have Stuffit or not (in Tiger)
So here's my question. To get files to my members I upload a .pdf to a folder on my .Mac page. .Mac does me a favor by changing it to file_name.pdf-binhex.hqx It adds "-binhex.hqx" to my file. It binhex encodes the file for download. How nice. Apple no longer bundles Allume (pronounced Aladdin) Stuffit Expander with its OS. From the Finder's FILE menu, it will let you "Create Archive Of ..." however. Will Tiger decode these coded files, or does everyone still have to install a copy of Expander (or something else) to decode them? Gary E. Kampel Apple User Group Regional Liaison Southeast Region
