AUGD: need advice on setting up a new MUG

I live in Staten Island, NY where an apple store
location opened last year. There is a New York City
MUG, but it holds meetings in Manhattan (always an
issue with long commuting times/high bridge
tolls/shoddy intermodal transportation from Staten
Island) which is why I thought of starting a MUG for
Staten Island. Anyway, I'm looking for advice on how
to make this a reality and/or how I would go about
making it a nonprofit organization. All help and
advice would be appreciated. Laura
