Hi All
Benjamin Stanley, Ambassador and Secretary of the Midlands Macintosh
User Group in the UK. www.mmug.org.uk
MMUG has been going for a few years now with regular monthly meetings
through the year. 200+ members, meetings anything from 15 to 30 in
attendance. We have a good membership with regular meeting contributions
from members, they get 3 months bonus subscription for each talk they
give which encourages input and keeps the group going.
Please, please please keep AUGD as a mailing list, here's my reasoning...
1. It's so much easier to browse through some text in Mail or
Thunderbird than plod through a graphic heavy forum 10 messages at a time.
2. It's easy to forward bits relevant to members on our own mailing lists.
3. I already have enough usernames and passwords, I don't want more to
have to remember for a forum.
4. The mailing list pushes stuff to us, forums mean we have to make sure
we check a particular place to find out if anything has been posted and
so miss out on things.
5. Following on from 4, I hate visiting forums to find a question I
posted hasn't been answered, here the messages come through, get nicely
threaded and I can browse when I need to.
6. If someone sends through a really useful email you can do a save as
and keep it.
7. I'm running out of reasons, but I think the first 6 are pretty good
ones, maybe someone can put the case for a forum?
