In upstate New York we are very lucky to have Babbage's Basement
which accepts and fixes old computers and printers to get them back into the community. They sell the refurbished systems at rock bottom prices as a fundraiser for the local children's science museum. Since demand for really old computers is nil, they are currently looking only for G3's, G4's, systems with Pentium III and AMD chips 1 GHz and higher, color monitors (no b&w) and printers for which ink is still made. If you have any of these machines, working or non working, or parts like power supplies or hard drives (memory sticks are particularly scarce) please keep them in mind when you're next in the Finger Lakes.
All the best, Jean |
