Hi guys
Following some amazing developments out of China that we've seen on the list lately (congrats David), I thought I'd share some things that are going on with EmiratesMac.
First, our newsletter shuffle, will go to 5000 copies in September, just in time for the big IT/telecomm tradeshow called GITEX (
www.gitex.com) in Dubai. We'll be a part of Apple IMC ME's stand at GITEX and have people there all week to hand out shuffle. We will also increase the number of pages and start including 12 pages completely in Arabic, with some content original in Arabic, some translated. We're excited about this and are anxious to find out what readers will think. Our members have done an amazing job keeping shuffle going, writing, designing, and everything else.

We're also trying something new. Together with the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, we're organizing the Hayah Film Competition (
www.hayahfilm.com) which is a section in the Middle East International Film Festival (
www.meiff.com). Anyone in the Middle East who's interested can submit a movie (no more than 5 minutes) in an iPod compatible format and there'll be winners picked in three categories: Students, Professionals, and Amateurs.
In other developments, our site is picking up registered users all the time, now we've past 1200. Also paid membership is increasing, although not as fast ;-)
