During the Vendor discussion panel at UGU today, it was suggested that vendors might be able to provide a QuickTime movie of their products to UGs. I second this idea for several reasons:

1. A vendor would be able to control the quality of the product presentation without having to rely on an unknown at presentation time. 2. This could replace the need for a personal visit in some cases. 3. It could tie in quite well with that vendor’s UG discount. 4. It would provide meeting content without having to find a volunteer to learn & present the topic.

I envision a Vendor preparing a 5-15 minute QT movie of reasonable resolution for projection screen viewing. They would send a CD of it and maybe copies of relevant handouts. A central electronic repository of Vendor-supplied QT presentations might be made available for last-minute download when a UG needs a last-minute topic.

I also see the possibility of a UG collecting 4-5 of these QT movies and building a meeting around them; after each presentation a short Q&A followed by a screen shot of that Vendor’s discount code or URL...
