Hi Jerry
Qwest may not support Macs, but they'll work just fine.
After connecting her ADSL modem to her Mac, she should do this to set up her MacBook:
1 - From the Apple menu, open System Preferences
2 - Click on the Network button
3 - From the Location menu, click on New Location...
4 - Name it something descriptive, like "QWEST" and click OK
5 - From the Show menu, click on Built-In Ethernet
6 - Click on the TCP/IP tab. Set the Configure IPV4 to DHCP
7 - Click Apply Now
That's it for the Mac!
If your member is going to be using her own DSL modem, most should auto-detect Qwest settings. In case hers does not, the minimum settings in her ADSL modem should be:
VPI = 0
VCI = 32
Encapsulation/Protocol = PPPoA LLC
Now she'd add her Qwest User Name (email@hidden) and Password and save these changes.
The default settings in MAIL (or Thunderbird) should work fine. If Qwest has any port requirement (25 or 110), their tech support should know this and help her set that up. They're not mean, you know.
