Title: Re: AUGD: What's your take?
I too was surprised when MS released the blurbs about Surface BUT that technology has been popping up on the Internet for a while. A guy named Jeff Han has been promoting that Multi Touch Interface for a while (I wondered how long it would take for Microsoft to steal, copy, or buy it).

Here’s a NON Microsoft look at Surface:

It is cool technology but isn’t that $10,000 table top just a BIGGER, MORE expensive version of SOME of the technology ALREADY on Apple’s iPhone....
Think about it...

Let me get this out up front. I prefer Mac. Period.
When asked why I prefer Macs to Pee Cees I usually answer, "A computer is a computer, don't you know. You double click to open a program ... windows open and close ... they do what they do.
Is the Mac better? Yes!
My strongest condemnation of the Windoze computers and interface is that they are inelegant. There just isn't a 'cool factor' in the MS world like there is in all things Apple.
The ads for VISTA say 'The WOW starts NOW'. For those that compare Vista to any Mac OS, the WOW started in 1984. Apple led the way and still does."
Well, let me tell ya. After seeing a quick demo on the TODAY show last week, "Holy-moly! "This "Surface" meets my WOW standard.
If you'd like to see more on this way-cool interface check out these links:

Of course, you could always Google for more info.
The price is pretty steep at $10,000 (read more <http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/sticker-shock/video-of-bill-gates-showing-off-his-expensive-table-264453.php> ), but remember that the first Apple computer's cost a few month's salary, too.
Do you think Apple will counter with a cooler countertop computer. This could take touch-screen computing to a whole new level. Check it out and let me know what's your take?
