BeiMac@5 was held successfully on Saturday, March 24th, 2007. We had
quite a crowd for the room -- about 90 people turned up. We also did
this cute little Mac museum, with even a Mac Classic in attendance!
Here's the whole scoop: http://www.beimac.com/?p=85
As BeiMac heads into the next five years, I'd like to thank everyone
(in open) for supporting the group. Big thanks goes of course to the
mothership and Jeff Mosqueda, and ultimately the "Great Leader" Steve
Jobs and the Woz for making this whole thing possible, and coming out
with innovation after innovation.
The support we've been getting from MUGs around the planet has been
nothing less of remarkable, so to speak. I want to thank not just the
well-wishers, but also everyone on the list. We remember your
support, and it has been a driving force in keeping BeiMac's engine
whirring -- and now even faster. Thanks also go out to the Three
Teams -- and especially to the Advisory Board and the RL Board.
I also want to thank all Chinese forums and Chinese Mac communities
for their support of the user group. When we started, MacFans Beijing
lent us quite a hand and that was crucial in growing the group in its
earlier stages.
We'd also like to thank the media outlets that have told the world
what on earth this BeiMac thing is. Thanks to them, the People's
Republic of Macs is growing fast and strong.
Thanks go out to the whole range of past and present BeiMac
executives. When we started, former Secretary Constance and former
treasurer Ivy got the group together, and we soon added Vice-
President Cheng Ke. Another former Secretary, Zhang Zhiguo, got the
group through its less-than-bright days in summer/autumn 2003. I'd
like to thank the current gang at BeiMac - Secretary Ketty Gao,
Treasurer Anne Zhu, Edu Cmte Head Howard Hao, PR Cmt Head Everlyne,
incoming VP Pearson Zhao, as well as Zhou Cai, Liuda, and Newsletter
people Gao Chun-Yu and Allan Yong. A big thanks also to our BeiMac
regional office liaisons Macluv in Xiamen, David in NYC and Anthony
in Taipei, as well as all Team BeiMac executives. The Steve is right
-- this is a team sport.
Finally, I'd like to thank the membership at BeiMac for their
support. There are over 384 of you, so the mail server's likely to
reject the email if I went through every one of them. Just realize
that without you guys, the group would be (did I mention I was a
Roald Dahl fan?) "deader than duck-soup".
We feel we needed to thank everyone as our group turned five. We wish
would could do this a lot earlier. With every bit of support we
garner, we feel the need to say "thank you" to everyone. BeiMac
doesn't grow at the expense of the rest of us; it grows with the rest
of us, and we want to do everything to become a force not only for
"national liberation" -- that is, making the whole of China think
different -- but also a force for good.
Thank you all very much. 非常感谢大家的支持! (That's Chinese,
by the way.)
David Feng
