1 - The MUG Event Calendar for May 14: Apple, Maker Faire with Steve

This week's MUG Event Calendar features a heavy Apple presence, a
regional event for DIY'ers and lots of home-grown presentations all over
the globe.
On the Apple front, Dave Marra will be the featured presenter twice this
week, once in Pennsylvania and once in Maryland, while Tim Matheny will
be in Tennessee and Charles Meyer will present twice in one day to a FCP
group in Denver.
The Maker Faire will be held in California with a special presentation
by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Take Control author Steve Sande
will present to a group in Massachutes.
Groups in California will enjoy presentations from Prosoft Engineering,
Lights Craft and an Adobe Certified Trainer will demonstrate the latest
version of CS3. (more)
2 - Denver Final Cut Pro User Group Will Host Panasonic P2HD Tour Stop
and Apple Guests

On Wednesday, May 16, the Denver Final Cut Pro User Group (DFCPUG) will
host their city's stop on the national Panasonic P2HD Tour. (more)

The O'Reilly User Group Program has announced this year's Maker Faire
will be held on May 19 & 20 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds in California. (more)
4 - Campus MovieFest Posts "Best of the Best" Movies from 2006-2007 Tour

The student movie-making event Campus MovieFest has completed their
2006-2007 Tour and have posted some of the best entries on their web

Each year The MUG Center receives at least a couple dozen emails asking
about signing up with the various Vendor Programs available to Mac User
Groups, affiliations with some of the purported user group organizations
out there and the many other offers that come to user group leaders. The
questions are always the same: Do they cost anything? Is there any
reason not to sign up? If they are free, what could it hurt? (more)
