The Tucson Macintosh Users Group raises money by:
Charging annual dues. $30 or $20 part-year; $45 family.
Conducting two raffles at the end of each meeting.
Once in a great while having an auction that collects a small fee from each sale.
Our treasury has slowly increased over the time we have been having the two raffles, although we do not seem to be collecting everything spent for the raffle items and our paid-up membership has remained constant over the same time period. Uncanny! We even offer a quarterly free dues drawing from the group of folks who renew before their due date that quarter.
These raffles do not contain used items or "junk." The lower-cost one (two tickets for $1) contains recent donated books, mugs, USB hubs, flash drives, USB cables, power strips, iKleer packs, CDR & DVDR packs, velcro cable tie kits, put-together computer furniture, notebook slip cases, roll-around computer cases, vendor-donated software, software found at special low prices, etc, etc. The higher-cost one ($3 or 2/$5) will contain a multi-function network printer, choice of digital camera or photo printer, choice of one of two ext FW/USB hard drives, choice of one of two iPod Shuffles, network duplex laser printer, etc, etc.
We have discussed other fund-raising efforts, but have not implemented any due to the health of our treasury as things are.
Sterett Prevost, President
Tucson Macintosh Users Group
