Hi Walt,
Thanks for the questions. The group number is an internal reference number and is not used for any specific group benefit. Most groups are not aware of their number. At one time the MUG Store requested numbers, but they are not supposed to ask for group numbers any more.
Groups can be recognized with two addresses, as long as the meetings are regularly scheduled and the group meets the other requirements. There is a web page that helps group ambassadors with the basics, but it does not currently have information about dot Mac groups. The Advisory Board and Regional Liaison teams read this list, so it will be discussed. Groups are not provided with a dot Mac account, but the ambassador can earn an account for group use. The information for this and other benefits is on the ambassador guide page at http://homepage.mac.com/ugab/ambassadorguide.pdf
A great resource for user group questions is the Regional Liaison team. Each Liaison is an expert on user group issues and happy to work with groups.
I will mail you specifics for your group off list.
Thanks for the questions
