Actually, OWC does have great products, but so does WD. One of their MyBooks is equipped with FW800, FW400, USB2, and ESATA. I've seen that one at Staples, but not at CircuitCity or Baddest Buy. Haven't been to Costco, but there is one in Greenville now, near Sam's, where I don't go any more, either. The big problem is that since Apple started supporting USB2 and starting up on it, the big box stores are almost impossible to find Firewire in. That doesn't mean the MFRs don't make Firewire drives, it just means you have to find them,
I didn't get the 1TB MyBook for $399, I bought for $99 a 1TB I/O Magic PeeCee only disk that is obviously 2 disks, but impossible to format that way. So I have it partitioned as 2 disks, and use one for TimeMachine for each MacBookPro. The drive is SO NOISY, I only turn it on to back up the Books when they tell me its been 10 Days since they were backed up.
I have a firewire disk on which I installed the Tiger disk that came with the first 1.83 MBP, and it will start from it, but the newer 2.2 MBP won't start from it. When I got it, it came with Tiger on it, but the disks with it were Leopard, I didn't back up Tiger before nuking and repaving it. I wanted to be able to boot in Tiger because Leopard won't print my 6x9 catalog envelope layout from Filemaker, which uses a backward landscape page layout which Leo is missing. I learned that after deleting Tiger. I've been printing those envelopes from Beth's iMacG5 which had Tiger, but it went to the shop last month, just before AppleCare ended, and came home with Leo. Guess I'll have to figure that out again, now.
Sorry about the rambling. Maybe it will help someone.

Thanks for everybody's input. I found great deals at Other World Computing. They work great, like LaCie. They both use the old Oxford chipset. I guess, for me, WD means "Won't Do." Gary
