It is far from a problem - actually - this email got me to thinking
about it and it is something our executive committee talked about
tonight.
the expected thing was that when I downloaded the file from your dot
mac account, the permission should have changed to 022 or -rw-r--r--
same is true for a download from Chuck's site via http. I haven't been
altering umask file the default is the 022 permission. But, it looks
like the umask was ignored.
I think this might be a bug in 10.5 - I thought I would throw out a
head up, in case somone else noticed an issue. Here is a recap
I used 10.5 to download from a dot mac public folder.
The file's permissions should have been -rw-r--r-- on my computer
(that is what the umask should set it to)
The file created on my computer as a result of the download had a
permission of -rwx------
what caused that to happen is a ??? either the file had those
permissions and the umask was ignored or my computer munged the
permissions or ???
BUT, in case someone uploads the file and then can't see it - check
the file's permissions.
(long and geeky - but - that is what users group are for)
