There's an App for that
Well, everyone seems to be getting on the bandwagon
-- advertising "apps" for this and "apps" for that.
It will be interesting to see how many of the newer cell
phones begin supporting Apple iPhone apps.
BUT THIS is seriously the BEST commercials for "Apps"
I've seen to date. And, this is where I'll be one of
these days ... And there's NO app for that:

Your Own Handwriting Fonts?
Here's a great idea - for yourself or for a gift:
YourFonts.com is an online service that allows you to make
a TrueType font out of your handwriting

iPhone aids the Color Blind
By simply pointing the camera preview on any object, Retina
provides a simple method to differentiate colors
in a fast, efficient way.

DrawIt Vector-Drawing for Mac
DrawIt 3.10 has become a lot faster when working on a large
canvas or when having a large number of layers.
This might be a good candidate for an alternative to Adobe Illustrator!

Apple Tablet: Truth or Rumor?
The news channels have ramped up again with a number of
mentions of an impending Apple Mac tablet based computer.
It's what I've dreamed about for some years, and it would
seem, we're getting closer!

69 Free Snow Leopard apps
Actually, the story is entitled "69 Awesomely Free Snow
Leopard Compatible Apps" - and it is written by those fine
folks over at Mac|Life, They are not all completely free,
the staff admit that some are donation ware.

Download Software Updates in OS X 10.6
According to Ronald Carlson on this web site, it is no longer
possible to download software updates in Snow Leopard.
Of course, I didn't know it was possible in Leopard.
But apparently it is.

Mailbag: Office suite on Mac
Reader N.B. From UK writes to ask about Office Suites
wordprocessing for Mac, and whether or not there's a
Word surrogate for Mac ...
* Bean: An OS X Word Processor http://bit.ly/4tiFFU
* Everyone seems to agree that OpenOffice is the best
MS Office surrogate for Mac. http://bit.ly/6cc19M
* AbiWord is another free word processing program similar
to MS Word - suitable for the Mac
... but I haven't used it. http://bit.ly/573N4y
* No specific parallels for WordPlus
... I have upgraded to Office 2008 for Mac, and it has some
pretty nice features. Slow as the dickens,
but seems stable http://bit.ly/8iwvjD

Apple buys Lala
According to the New York Times and others, Apple agreed
yesterday to purchase a four year old music company Lala.
The company is based in Palo Alto, California, not
that far from Apple own base.
