01 Mainline Mac User Group
I normally use Stumble Upon to find interesting web site about
Macs and PCs. (Okay, mostly Macs.) Imagine my surprise when the
article that popped up was a review of a Dell color laser printer.
And to top it all off, it was actually on a MUG web site.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
02 Net Neutrality Decade
Is a pay-for-bytes consumed internet in our future?
99.9% think 'Net Neutrality' issues have gone away. Wrong.
Rest assured, the issues and debates are going to get ugly --
and who ends up on the receiving end may be you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
03 New Decade of Games
Kicking off a new decade is a plethora of games aimed at
the iPhone and iPod Touch marketplace
-- some good, some not so good.

04 Victories against spam
We've followed the work of Knujon, CircleID, and SpamCop for
several years, now it appears they're making some substantial
advances in the war against pill spammers and rogue registrars
who harbor spam and malware purveyors. Here are some
of the latest developments

-------------------------------------------------------------------
05 How much data is that?
By now we have gotten used to talking about kilobytes, gigabytes
and even for some terabytes. But do we really know what it means?
And what comes next?

07 Concert Photography
The highly demanding and specialized craft of photographing
live performances is not that difficult once you understand the
nature of the shoot. Get the most out of those concert tickets

08 iPod Classic Now an eReader
More and more we are hearing about ereaders.
Kindle provides software for computers and the iPhone.
Now there is support for the iPod classic for reading bookas as well.
TimeStream Software has announced the release of the new "Adventures
of Tom Sawyer" Notescast for the iPod Classic, iPod nano and
iPod Video. Now, using their iPod as an eReader, iPod owners
can immerse themselves in the tale of young Tom Sawyer, a
mischievous carefree boy who sets off in search of adventure
in the old south and finds more than his fair share.
True love, buried treasure, a haunted house, a mysterious cave and
even murder await Tom and his friends in this true American classic.

12 Mailbag: Free On-Line CAD Viewer
UGN reader Tatyana Popova writes:
> "there's a free online service for sharing vector-quality
> CAD drawings over the Web. CAD files have a specific
> format, and opening them on a computer takes special viewer
> software. ShareCAD eliminates these inconveniences and
> allows opening CAD drawings directly in the web browser."

13 Final warning for the decade:
in all email, unless you really know the sender, check the
source code in the email. Almost ALL email is coming out as html
these days, and there are embedded traps.
Even if you "think" you know the sender -- check it anyway.
For instance, the "FaceBook" team send an email asking me to
change my password for "security" purposes. Except the embedded
link was: http://www (dot) facebook.com (dot) pinateoiili.com
... Which would actually have given my password to some cyber
criminal in France. (domain in France, IP address in Pakistan)
Always be on your guard.

14 Happy New Year / New Decade
Lynn and Fred wish you the very best for the coming year,
2010, and the following new decade.
Health, prosperity and pleasures be yours! Cheers!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
15 Quotes: Zig Ziglar, Norman MacEwen
We make a living by what we get,
but we make a life by what we give.
-- Norman MacEwen
Of all the "attitudes" we can acquire,
surely the attitude of gratitude
is the most important and by far the most life-changing.
-- Zig Ziglar
