We are using a web-based home-made CMS-system for all membership
related stuff. We did the most of the coding 4 years ago, and every
attempt to go to another premade system like Wordpress or similar has
failed due to lack of membership features.
The web-features of Filemaker 5(I think it was) were not good enough
back when we did the programming, so we skipped it even though we got
a free copy somehow. Going to MySQL/PHP was much better for the
purpose and even free.
If anyone has some experience in using CMS-based sites for their
homepage and membership list, I would be very interested.

Sounds like a job for FileMaker Pro.

A year or more ago I used Xcode to write an application that sent
personalized emails to user-group members that were not current
with their dues. We coded the dues date in an "anniversary" entry
in the Address Book database. The application looked at the
anniversary date and used the Message.framework to send
notifications to those that hadn't paid.
Well, at some point, this stopped working. We had some changes in
the Treasurer position, so the problem might have occurred in the
Internet Provider, or it might be due to the deprecating of the
Message.framework in OS 10.5...
I've looked at Automator and Address Book and neither seem to
offer a way to send emails to those whose anniversary is in the
past. Before I spend a lot of time troubleshooting this issue, is
there any advice from other user groups about how they handle the
situation?
