Yes, we have a great relationship with our Apple store. We all know each other by name. We encourage our members to buy there in person rather than online, etc. They said it's Apple's policy that they cannot promote MUGS. Remember that their primary focus is to (1) make sales, and (2) help their customers use what they've purchased.
If you have a history of supporting your local Apple Store they would probably be more amenable to supporting you. Do you guide your members to the Apple Store for purchases of hardware and software? Or do you look for the "best deal" that might leave the stores out of the equation? Do you counsel your members to avail themselves of the Genius Bar? Or is one of your club officers the local guru that travels house to house in search of Mac problems that they will fix (for a nominal fee)?
Its all about relationships. What have you done to consistently show them that you're on their side? Not for a month, but for much longer? Do you give the free ad space in your newsletter? Or post a link prominently on your website? Do you organize club field trips to the local store (with the managers awareness and permission) to promote the stores to your members?

If you won't scratch their backs, they may not be so inclined to scratch yours.
