One of my members asked about
OpenDNS to help him block adult sites on his home network. In the course of my inverstigation I came across some advice to flush the DNS cache after changing the numbers. I came across this instruction:
To flush the DNS cache in Mac OS X:-
- type dscacheutil -flushcache in your terminal to flush the DNS resolver cache.
ex: bash-2.05a$ dscacheutil -flushcache
- Once you run the command your DNS cache (in Mac OS X Leopard) will flush.
This may be good for Leopard, but he still uses OS X 10.3.9. When entering that command he gets "tcsh: dscacheutil: Command not found" from Terminal.
Does this mean there is a different way to flush in different OS versions, or what? Does he
need to flush the cache?
