I think it is a good bet that Apple will update iWork and ILife both to 64 bit code and offer features that take advantage of it. When is the question, and eternal one for Apple users.
However, Apple has given anyone needing it the green light to purchase the current versions of iWork and iLife with Snow Leopard for $169. Usually the iLife and IWork product go for $79 each and new releases of OS X go for $129. So, $169 for all three is a bargin.
So, Apple is saying, "Hey, if you are on Leopard and want to go to Snow Leopard, that's $29 - A bargin. If you are on Tiger and want to go to Snow Leopard, $169 gets you the OS, plus iLife and iWork. Pretty good incentive to move up"
If Apple offers new version of iLife and iWork, say, after Jan 1, and you just purchased those with Snow Leopard for $169, don't feel bad about it. You did not pay full fare for the products.

I have a silly question:
What do folks on this list think of the likelihood of Apple coming out with new versions of iLife and iWork in early 2010, less than six months from now? Inquiring minds want to know if they should get just Snow Leopard or wait to see if a new "Mac Box Set" will be coming out in early '10.
My guess, based on past experience, is that Apple will sell these new box sets to beat the band this Fall AND come out with new iLife and iWork in January.
