Well that's expected. Using the old formula was incorrectly reporting
reception as better than it was. It might be disappointing, but at least
it's realistic, unless there's a valid reason why you should still have 5
bar (such as being directly beside a cell tower).

Not so sure about this one. A long shot, but I've noticed that my 3G
incorrectly reports its battery status if I charge it with either a third
party charger or my iPad charger. This sometimes 'locks' the battery
indicator in one position. Can be fixed with a reset, or by using the
original Apple iPhone charger.

iOS 4.1, currently available to developers, is a lot faster on my 3G. I
found iOS 4.0 slowed to a crawl and had to reset my phone daily. I wonder
if this was caused my a memory leak or similar.
