01 Brave new 'online' world
I'm following along, trying to keep up as best as I can ?
but the changes are coming at nose-bleed speed these days.
Here are just a few of the recent eye-openers I've run across
in the past month or so that can help us all
understand what's going on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
02 No to e-reader ads
Consumers hesitant to embrace e-reader advertising; opt for
tangible, but targeted, experiences in magazines ? CMO Council
finds magazine readers looking to be more fully embraced
by publishers to mold more relevant experiences
in content and advertising

03 How the iPad Was Dreamed Up, in 1988
Harry McCracken wrote this story for PC World.
His title is "Technologizer." I have no idea what that means.
But came up with a story about how some college students in
September of 1987 entered an Apple a competition it called
"Project 2000." Teams from a dozen universities were invited
to submit papers about Knowledge Navigator-like concepts
representing the PC of far-off 2000.
Judges included Steve Wozniak, Alan Kay, Alvin Toffler,
Ray Bradbury and Britannica's Diane Ravitch.

iPad NOTE:
... Fred was at BestBuy Saturday to get a netbook for his daughter,
and ran into the Apple Rep, who was putting iPads out on display.
Fred just so happened to be wearing his User Group golf shirt --
the purple one with "PowerBooks" on the sleeve and "Neuton" on
the pocket. The Apple Rep had never heard of the Neuton.
When Fred commented "These are so cool, I should buy one today" ...
the rep responded ...
"That will be difficult. We don't have them and we can't get them."

04 Tennis Coach 1.0.2 for iPad
Announcing that TKRM, LLC, the developers of Tennis Coach,
has released the latest update for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
users. This Apple Design Award nominee is the first and only
software of its kind, legally offering coaching to players
after the start of a match. Tennis Coach marks a major
change in how the sport of tennis will be played from now on.

05 Penpower launches WorldCard Mobile
Missing Manual Penpower, a leading provider of Document
Recognition mobile applications, has announced the launch of
its flagship Business Card Reader application, WorldCard Mobile
in the European market. WorldCard Mobile is a convenient and
reliable mobile business tool that transfers contact data
from business cards directly to the iPhone address book by
using the device's camera and its Text Recognition technology.

06 Houdah Software announces ACTPrinter
Houdah Software, publisher of HoudahSpot and HoudahGeo, has
announced the immediate availability of ACTPrinter 1.8 for iPad,
iPhone and iPod touch. With ACTPrinter all your documents travel
with you ? on your iPad or iPhone. Ever wondered why you always
end up printing those so-called electronic tickets, boarding
passes, bar codes, and more? Wasted a sheet of paper to remember
that "will call" pickup number? No more! Beyond serving as a
medium for tickets and the like, ACTPrinter is also a document
reader. Take emails, web pages, letters, and more with
you for reading on the go.

07 3D TV Pops, Not Much to Watch
Consumer Reports' tests LCD plasma TV with 3DThere's been a
lot of hype surrounding the launch of 3D TV, but is the new
technology worth buying right away? Consumer Reports tested several
new sets in its labs ? the first hands-on evaluation outside the
manufacturers' facilities ? and found that the sets live up
to their advance billing, but the average consumer shouldn't
rush out to buy one.

08 126,000 at the 2010 CES
The 2010 International CES has confirmed: 126,641 industry
professionals attended the tradeshow's four-day run in Las Vegas,
Nevada, a 12 percent increase in CES attendance
from the previous year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
09 StumbleUpon
The original web site that gave you random new sites was one
called 'Roulette.com. Of course, today that is a gaming industry
site. StumbleUpon did it one better with Firefox plug-in that
let people recommend specific sites by category and
thus narrows down the area of search.

10 First iPad Spy Software Hits the Market
Retina-X Studios, LLC, has announced the immediate availability
of Mobile Spy for the Apple iPad. Using this groundbreaking
iPad technology, users can silently view all email messages, web
site visits and other information of children or employees --
even if histories are deleted.
The new version for the iPad is now on the market.

11 Apple iPad USB Charge Monitor/Activator
QuickerTek has announced the creation of an inexpensive tool
the USB Charge Monitor/Activator to monitor the charging of the
Apple internal iPad battery. The iPad indicator does not always
provide complete information when it comes to knowing two things:
whether or not the USB port is on and charging the iPad and the
speed/power draw that the USB port supplies to the iPad.
Since not all USB ports provide the same amount of power,
confusion is common.

16 Quotes: Got time?
"Don't say you don't have enough time.
You have exactly the same number of hours per day
that were given to
Helen Keller,
Pasteur,
Michaelangelo,
Mother Teresa,
Leonardo da Vinci,
Thomas Jefferson, and
Albert Einstein."
