Social media experts are the web designers of the early 90s: anyone
who could use Adobe Pagemill was a Web Designer. Or the 80s when
someone who owned a LaserWriter and Pagemaker was a Desktop Publisher.
It's about as broad a topic as "the web". Keep it focused on how to
use it in your Mac. An entire meeting could be about twitter clients
in and of themselves.
The landscape changes by the hour, so trying to corral it is like
herding cats. Please oh please do not get drawn into any paid
training on this. I've seen people selling their services for up to
30K an event--and teach you nothing. It *is* the snake oil of the
current era.
Soapboxing on social media experts aside, we use Twitter, Facebook,
Foursquare, Gowalla and Wordpress to inform and interact with our
members and potential members.

I know I've personally set up a YouTube account for a historical reunion group (not a MUG), but is there any formal place to learn about this phenomenon? Or is it constantly changing so fast that you can't expect books to be current?
