To Mac users in my Address Book
I’m NOT going to post the articles in an email message but invite you to read them IFF (for those of us who did logic design, IFF stands for If and ONLY If) you are interested in some significant options with respect to your use of Time Machine (TM)
TM is the Belt of my Belt and Suspenders strategy for protecting against a loss of computer data in your Mac. SuperDuper (SD) provides the suspenders function. Together you are protected with perhaps a 98% probability against loss. (You can probably cover the other 2% by having off-site copies of your TM drive and SD drive.)
The first article covers the opportunity to Backup your TM backup information. What, backup a backup? Are you crazy Jerry? No, many Mac users have found that their TM information became unavailable because of failure of the TM drive or companion electronics.
The second article covers the issue of when the TM drive / volume becomes full and starts deleting the oldest backups. I, personally, don’t sweat this situation BUT some may want an option to keep building an almost infinite TM backup. The second article provides two methods to deal with the full TM quandry
