10 Debunking Free Antivirus Myths

whether or not they can adequately protect your computer and

This article is entirely about Windows PC's and doesn't even mention
the Macintosh. That's disappointing, because I haven't seen
anything authoritative written about the efficacy of free anti-virus
products for the Macintosh. The Windows malware scene is different
than the Macintosh malware scene (despite what some "security
experts" would have us believe) and I believe that it is misguided to
draw conclusions about one based on the other.
There are at least a couple of free anti-virus programs for the
Macintosh:
ClamXav (free)
http://www.clamxav.com/
Sophos Anti-Virus (free for individual use)
anti-virus.html>
It would be nice if someone did a full review of these and compared
their features and effectiveness to commercial AV products.
