Oldest doesn't always mean best.
In my experience, Symantec's anti-virus products on Mac have always had a
performance and/or stability impact. Personally, I would steer clear of it.
I gave the Sophos product a try, because of it becoming free (for home
users) and because a friend who is also an I.T. pro speaks highly of it (and
he works at a university where they use Sophos on Windows and Mac).
