breakins now represent the worst of the spam and phishing - and it's
becoming more and more difficult to pinpoint the criminals. This
week's Safenetting evils are :
* FBI Warns Public That Cyber
Criminals Continue to Use Spear-Phishing Attacks
* Mobile
malware, mainly aimed at Android devices, jumps 614% in a year
*

02 ZipZapMac Releases Periscope Pro
ZipZapMac has released Periscope Pro, an application that turns a
Mac into a multi-featured video surveillance system. Most
computer-based video surveillance software takes videos regularly at a
pre-set interval, generating hundreds or even thousands of useless
clips that have to be sorted through to find what the user wants. But,
Periscope Pro can be set to shoot only when there is motion, that is,
activity going on, capturing exactly what the user is looking for,
saving enormous amounts of search time and storage.

08 IDG: Wearable Tech | The Human Cloud | Internet of Things
Augmented_Reality With Google Glass anticipated early next year
and rumours of the iWatch, wearable tech is grabbing the headlines at
the moment. According to a recent telephone poll though, only 42% of
Americans said they would buy or wear a smart watch, so if the future
of wearable tech doesn't seem that bright with consumers, what about
the enterprise? This week we look at whether wearable tech has a place
in the enterprise, explore its production value rather than its
novelty value, and look at some of the challenges this journey into
device innovation presents.

09 Quotes: focus on books
A book must be the ax for the frozen sea within us.
--Franz Kafka

Make it a rule never to give a
child a book you would not read yourself.
--George Bernard Shaw

Books are the compasses and
telescopes and sextants and charts which other men have prepared to
help us navigate the dangerous seas of human life.
--Jesse Lee Bennett
