10 US Move on Domain Name System Continues to Draw GOP Caution
Roll Call (blog) is reporting:
Republicans are still trying to put the brakes - at least
temporarily- on a National Telecommunications and Information
Administration plan to relinquish its connection to certain key
Internet domain name functions. But seriously folks, you really have
no idea how badly the "evil axis" wants to get their hands on the
internet.
House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton said
"It would be irresponsible for Congress and the administration
to ignore those hostile governments that have openly expressed their
desire to seize and control the Internet ... Once we transfer this
role away, there is no going back."
Duh. Why can't the Democrats understand what's at stake here?
Letting the internet out of U.S. government control will be one of the
huge mistakes of the century.

11 Does Facebook affect our self-esteem, sense of belonging?
The Science Daily web site is one we recommend for good research
and info.
New research published in the journal Social Influence looked at how
Facebook communication impacts on feelings of social belonging which
in turn affects outlook on life; loneliness and self-worth.
Researchers, led by Dr Stephanie Tobin from The University of
Queensland's School of Psychology, conducted two studies centred on
'lurking' or passive Facebook participation and on ostracism, aiming
to analyze how participants would feel when deliberately 'snubbed'.

12 Quotes: Communications
A conversation is a dialogue, not a monologue.
That's why there are so few good conversations:
due to scarcity, two intelligent talkers seldom meet.
-- Truman Capote
Precision of communication is important,
more important than ever in our era of hair-trigger balances,
when a false, or misunderstood word may create as much disaster
as a sudden thoughtless act.
--James Thurber
Too much agreement kills a chat.
--Eldridge Cleaver
