01 An interesting week was had by all . . .
It started off with Fred on his boat taking off up the ICW for the voyage from Miami to the Chesapeak Bay. The starbord Volvo Penta went down and stranded them ... then this tropical depression moved in and began tracking their every move ... By the time you read this, they should have been passing through the Albemarle Sound of North Carolina. It didn't happen and they flew back to Virginia.
Upon arrival we discovered the UGNN site had been hacked ... darn hackers inserted a PHP worm that posted spam links under the logo of every page. Fred and the geeks battled to no avail, and finally had to pay the ISP's "protection service" to go in and fix it. Strangely enough the site was fixed in ten minutes! (About $20 per minute) Did you ever feel like something was hitting you in the back side? anyway . . .
Google caught wind of the debackle, but has no mercy whatsoever and has devalued the UGNN site. So now we don't turn up in Google searches. We're meeting on Monday with a service ($$$) to restore our good graces to Google.
At what point do we throw in the towell and walk away from this insanity?

03 MacKeeper
I recently had a long time MUG member from Dallas contact me and ask about removing some adware that kept suggesting that he purchase MacKeeper. Even though I had mentioned Adware Medic recently in an article, I couldn't remember the name. I was at work at the time and couldn't spend the time to research. I did remember that it was one piece of software I couldn't get from Macupdate.com.
