Nicholas,
The Hawaii Macintosh & Apple Users' Society manages its membership database online using FileMaker Pro behind the built in services in WordPress and various plugins.
We've been doing this since WordPress 2.0 and Filemaker Pro 6.
Despite all the years it still is and will always be a work in progress.
Our web site provides public and members' only sections. The system also does the dues billing, facilitates dues payment, manages membership information updates, mailing list, and provides a resource library.
Our site is: http://hmaus.org
We've been on the Internet since 1997 and have had an online presence since the days of BBS's.
Aloha,
/ev
