Thank you, but when I try what you suggest I still get the subdirectory in the second action.

Problem:
Want results not to include files in subdirectories of the desktop




Try something along the lines of

       Get Specified Finder Items
               Drag in the Desktop folder
       Get Folder Contents
               And don't check the "Repeat for each subfolder found" checkbox

That'll produce a list of everything on the desktop, but not any of the subdirectories. Just the desktop items.
