Hi,
In the Automator pre-defined actions list, "Find Finder Items" takes
Where and Whose configuration parameters.
Is it possible to not select the "Where" when I use this action in
my workflow? Right now, I have to choose a folder when setting up
the action.
In the option list of "Where", there is one for "New Variable". How
do I use that option?
Thanks,

hi Wayne,
I played with this quickly -- when setting up your action, you can use
the 'new variable' to specify a folder that is not already present in
the popup menu. Then if you run the action with the "Show this action
when workflow runs"-option ON, the folder you selected as the "new
variable" will show up in the popup list below the "usual" folders
which are already listed there. You don't have to use the New Variable
option if you show the action when the workflow runs...the "Where"
popup will have "Other" as an option at the bottom, so the user can
select any folder they want.
I'm not sure of your level of comfort using automator, so please
forgive me if the following advice is too elementary...
Use the "Show this action when workflow runs" if you want the user to
be able to access the menu choices there when the workflow is invoked.
Leave it off if you want to set the folder when you create the
workflow and you don't want the user to have any access to this.
