Directories Synchronization

I am working on different computers running with different operative systems
(Windows vs. Leopard) and I often transfer the whole 'working area' (2-3 Gb) among them
through external disks.
Does anybody knows an efficient tool for automatically synchronize data over the different media
without copying the whole working area?.
Under Windows I am using Totalcommander and I could use it even for Mac throughout 'Paralles'
but it is quite clumsy so I would appreciate suggestion, or better, scripts for doing such job.
Grazie
