AppleScript-Automator Combination

Does anyone know how to execute AppleScripts from within an Automator sequence? For example, I have an Automator routine that I would like to perform some function. Unfortunately, Automator does not provide a means to perform this function but it is fairly easy to code.

If this is possible, can someone point me to a reference where I can learn how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

-CFMiles.
