using variables to filter mail messages

  • Subject: using variables to filter mail messages

I'm trying to create a service that will look for all mail messages with the selected text. I was hoping it would be easy, but I suspect it will require some applescripting.

Here are my service steps…
0. receives selected text in any application
1. Set Value of Variable
2. Get Value of Variable
3. I've tried both Filter Mail Messages and Find Mail Items

As you have probably figured out by now, I haven't figured out how to pass the variable from step 3 into the find criteria of step 3. Maybe it's not possible?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Dan Pouliot
