I'm not sure what's the different btw @ login and post-login, but let's say @ login is just fine. The ethernet cable is connected all the time.

Let me go out on a limb here: would you like to have it set up so that when you log into your machine, you’re also logging into that 802.1X setup? Or do you want this to happen post-login?
