automator and numbers

I want to merge the Automator and Numbers applications to make up a programmable calculator capable of summing a long string of vectors using polar to cartesian conversion. Both apps are new to me, so I would appreciate being pointed towards any relevant text preferably at the “Janet and John” level. - Robert G.
