Just a tip that might help part of your question: If you've got the workflow open, right-clicking (Ctl-clicking) the filename in the window handle will reveal the path to the file. This is standard OS X behavior, and even works with Calendar Alarms.

By the way, a successfully scheduled workflow will have an "alert" of type "Open file"; this is found under "Custom..." types. This will allow you to ensure the correct workflow is associated with your Calendar entry.

Interestingly, my actions created under 10.8 show in my Automator calendar, but the alert types are blank, even though they do run successfully. That looks like a bug to me...

How can I change the calendar entry’s alert to run the Automator action? I unhid my Mac’s library, but I tried selecting the appropriate file and I can’t find it. I also have the Automator app on my screen with the Automator action in it, but I can’t find its path from within the Automator GUI. If I run the action again from within the Automator window, a new calendar entry is not created, so I can’t see where it points to the action.
