Some web pages like http://www.plantronics.com/us/support/contact/ allow you to click on phone numbers and the number can be dialed. This uses the href="" href="tel:xxxxxxxxx" class="">tel:xxxxxxxxx” tag which I presume is used by WebRTC and other applications.
In Safari when you click on the phone number FaceTime is activated to be able to make the phone call. If I right-click on it the number it is highlighted and Automator services are enabled.
In Firefox it prompts you to select an application to use to dial. FaceTime is pre-populated with the ability to select another application(s). I can only select applications not Automator services.
I have written an Automator service using Data Detectors to recognize and dial a highlighted phone number but Services don’t seem to be recognized by this only applications.
- Is there a way to add my Automator service as a dialing option?
- I saved the service as an application which I can select in Firefox but the number isn’t passed to it.
The Contacts application has something similar for FaceTime with an icon to the right of the phone numbers but I can’t see how it is enabled either.
Thanks, Bill Vlahos
