Automator 2.2.4 and Lion 10.7.5 permissions problem

I am getting an error message that I don't have permission to save or autosave documents in Automator. Seems to be anywhere I try to save the file and I've tried normal permissions repair and user permissions repair in Disk Utility and the Recovery Disk Utility. I've also used chmod to manually adjust the permissions for the folders I am saving to.
So I think it is an error of Automator. But it seems to be a new issue. Not sure when exactly it started, but I had made an automator workflow a while back and it worked just fine. Now the same document can't be updated or saved.
I don't have any other permissions issues with any other apps. Any thoughts would be helpful.
