Hi Ilja,
I understand your problem. Maybe it works when you select "... in
any application" instead of "... in iPhoto"? It is definetly some
bug in Automator or iPhoto. Your Workflow is terminating so fast,
since it can't work without any input.

Hi Lukas,
As I indicated in my original post it won't show up in any of
the two following scenarios if I choose the process (which is a
service type) to
receive any input (files/folder, images):
- I select photos
- I deselect photos
In this case the service simply won't show up under
iPhoto-->Services submenu (all I see is the default "No
services", greyed out, not counting "Services settings", of
course).
Once I select it not to have any
input it becomes
visible and can be triggered when I select one or a group of
photos in iPhoto. The problem is that whenever it starts
running it immediately quits once I select the destination
album I want it to target to.
Too bad I can't post a
screenshot (the message would exceed size restrictions for
posting messages here) to make it more evident and
understandable. My service consists of only one action -
"Add photos to album" (the action has iPhoto icon and its
description reads that its input is iPhoto photos, output -
iPhoto photos added to the assigned album or a new album).
Actually I used a wrong title for this action in the subject
header: its sounds "Add photos to album".
Regards,
I.S.

Hi Ilya,
so the service does not appear in iPhoto when
choosing e.g. "This service receives selected image
files" in Automator? Even after selecting some images in
iPhoto?

Hi Ilya,
why do you choose "Receives no input" if you
want it to receive input?

Hi all there,
I recently went through all the hassle
of setting up a simple process which is to
be designed so that selected images in
iPhoto would be added to an album. I went
with building up a service to be triggered
in iPhoto proper. I stopped by choosing "Receives
no input" "in iPhoto". When I
select some iPhoto pics I see the name of
my service appearing in contextual menu
and once initiated it starts running but
then aborts thus failing to achieve the
expected goal - to add the photo to the
album I want it to. The service consists
of only one action "Add to iPhoto album".
Please could I earn some your advice on
what I did wrong? The problem is that the
service is visible in contextual menu only
when I select it not to receive any input
data (which means I assign it manually to
the type of data I desire).
Best regards,
Ilya
P.S. I failed several times to send the
message. Sorry if you see more than one
copy.
